Families are an important topic in preschool. As we will discuss at Back to School Night preschool is a year for children to begin to verbalize their identity and listen to others. Identity and life experience is something we all carry with us. Family is one personal way that we help children speak about themselves and hear about the experiences of others. The students learn about their own perspective and that of others.
To help facilitate this we will need examples of how YOUR family defines family in photos. We will post these photos around the portrait of your child on our board. Children will take turns over several days explaining who is in each photo.
Think about who you call family. This may be the people who live under one roof or multiple homes. It may be people bound by blood, or it may include dear close friends that are family. It comes down to how YOU define family.
My goal is to foster each child's pride of family and understanding that others are also proud of their own.
